Rabbi Shayke Lerner
Executive Director
Rabbi Lerner was born in Israel and educated in the Chabad Yeshivot in Israel. In 1995 Rabbi Lerner started a special program at the Lubavitch Headquarters in New York City. In 1998 Rabbi Lerner received his Rabbinical degree from the Central Lubavitch Yeshiva in New York. While receiving his education Rabbi Lerner became involved in giving classes and lectures on behalf of the Lubavitch Outreach Center. Upon receiving his rabbinical ordination Rabbi Lerner was hired by the research division of the Lubavitch Publishing House. In 2001 Rabbi Prus, Director of the Chabad of Eastern Massachusetts asked Rabbi Lerner to establish and direct a new Chabad Center in Brookline MA.
Since the fall of 2001, Rabbi Lerner has been responsible for all the activities and finances of Chabad Center of Brookline. In addition to his administrative responsibilities, Rabbi Lerner serves as the
community Rabbi, counseling those in need, giving weekly classes, tutoring bar mitzvah boys,
performing weddings, and other Jewish ceremonies.
Mrs. Chanie Lerner
Program Director
Chanie Lerner was born in Boston. In 1995 she received a Teacher or Jewish Studies diploma from
Beth Rivkah Teachers College in New York, and in 1997 she received a BS from SUNY Empire State
College. Mrs. Lerner worked as a teacher in the Jewish Day School system in New York from 1995
until 2001. In addition, Mrs. Lerner gave classes to adult women at Chabad of the Upper West Side,
and in the summers taught a Torah study college fellowship program, the Ivy League Torah Study
program in upstate New York.
Since arriving in Brookline, Mrs. Lerner has created and organized the Chabad Center's holiday programs. Mrs. Lerner has also taught various Torah study classes, and teaches the bridal
preparatory course.
Rabbi Shayke and Chanie Lerner live in Brookline with their six children.
Their home serves as an open home and base for many of their activities.
Volunteers
In addition, the Chabad Center is blessed with numerous volunteers and interns who help the center
by helping organize and running various programs.
